Forensic/ Medico-legal evaluations

Forensic or Medico-legal neuropsychological evaluations help determine the extent and severity of cognitive, behavioral and emotional problems, their probable cause(s), and how they are expected to impact one's daily life activities (e.g. relationship, vocational and social areas).  Individual's effort, response biases and validity of the symptoms are also documented using empirically-validated tests and assessment methods.

I conduct different types of forensic evaluations:

• Independent Medical Examinations​

• Civil Personal Injury Cases (E.g., Are neuropsychological impairments due to an injury or traumatic event?)

• Capacity Evaluations (E.g., Can the person retain capacity to make medical and financial decisions?)

I offer forensic evaluations in Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) as well.

My role in a forensic evaluation is to answer a legal question. I provide an unbiased and objective comprehensive assessment, rather than to advocate for a particular litigation outcome. There is no doctor-patient relationship.

I provide expert witness consultations and testimony in personal injury and civil litigations for the following conditions:

• Traumatic Brain Injury​

• Dementia

• Brain Tumor, seizures, stroke

• Psychiatric conditions (e.g. Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety, Depression)
